A Firm for All Seasons

A firm for all seasons: for the good times, the tough times and everything in between

With Afford Bond, there is no such service as ‘one-size-fits-all’ – for the firm prides itself on offering support as individual as the clients it serves.

Combining professionalism with approachability, its team looks after businesses from multi-million pound enterprises to sole traders, from farms and factories and with people starting out on the business ladder to these living their best life in retirement.

Explains Director Paul Edwards: ‘We like to get to know our clients – their hopes and plans as well as just the balance sheet. It is when we fully understand those things, that we can ‘think outside the box’ and come up with ideas and suggestions to ensure they make the most of whatever government schemes and regulations allow.

‘Of course, people have to pay their dues, but those working hard in the UK’s business world are entitled to reap the rewards they have earned, and we are here to help them do that.’

One such client is Martin Beech of E Beech Joinery, which has been using Afford Bond’s Services for over eight years.

If it’s made of wood, they make it look good

Specialising in the manufacture of windows, doors, gates and bespoke made-to-measure furniture for homes and businesses (including heritage and ecclesiastical properties), Martin is the son of company founder Edward. For over 60 years, the Congleton-based business has built its reputation for highly skilled craftsmanship – taking raw timber and turning it into items that are both functional and beautiful. As the company’s slogan says: ‘If it’s made of wood, they make it look good.

As Martin explains: ‘Over the years we’ve used a number of accountancy firms – but it wasn’t until we started working with Afford Bond that we really found everything we needed.

‘We’ve been with them since 2016 – and they’ve been great. They were particularly helpful during the pandemic, guiding us through the schemes and support that was available.’

Keeping track of  the deadlines

And Bookkeeper at the firm Gill Dodds added:’ I find all the team at Afford Bond really approachable. They are at the end of the phone if you have a query, and are very prompt coming back on email too. They are also good with reminders – whenever there’s a tax deadline or paperwork to be filled in, they send us a quick note so that nothing gets missed.’

And Martin added: ’It’s great to find people who are so down to earth, you never worry that you are asking a stupid question. When you visit, even if it’s just dropping off paperwork, they always have time for you. Even the receptionist knows your name!’

Said Director at Afford Bond, Paul Edwards, who first met Martin through the BNI Business Network: ‘It’s great to hear that E Beech Joinery feels so well supported. We are able to assist a wide range of clients, from those using handwritten books and records to bookkeepers like Gill, running cloud-based systems such as Sage, Quickbooks or Xero.

‘And there are businesses with their own accounts teams who still need that extra level of expertise, particularly when it comes to things like R&D Credits or Capital Allowances.

‘Whatever our clients need, our job is to provide it – and to make their accounts one thing they never have to worry about!’
