Small and medium-sized businesses in England will receive Government funding under a new £20 million grant scheme to help cover accountancy and other professional fees. The grants, which were announced relatively quietly at the end of July, range from £1,000 to £5,000 and can be used by SMEs to pay for professional, legal, financial or other advice to help them recover from the coronavirus pandemic.
They can also be used to purchase minor equipment or adopt new technology in order to continue to deliver business activity or diversify. To access the funding, businesses can apply through the growth hub in their local enterprise partnership area.
Afford Bond Director, Paul Edwards said: “Businesses who might not normally access additional professional advice can use these new grants to pay for professional expertise, equipment and technology needed to adapt their businesses and to recover and rebuild. SME’s are the heart of our communities; they provide employment and contribute significantly to local economies and it’s fantastic to see them being offered the support they need to continue to thrive.”
