Afford Bond Accountants were delighted to sponsored the Maths Challenge at Duddon Primary School recently, after it was launched at an inspiring assembly prepared by the children in Class 3. The children – with the help of their teacher and Maths subject co-ordinator, Kathryn Marsh – put together an animated Powerpoint presentation accompanied by them singing. The Maths Challenge encourages the children to learn their times tables ‘off by heart’, which is proven to have a positive impact on the children’s ability to problem solve quickly.
Afford Bond Director, Jonathan Curwen said: “it’s important to make Maths fun from an early age, and we were pleased to support the school in this initiative by supplying all the Domino Sets as prizes. I know many of the children have already achieved their Bronze and Silver Certificates, so the encouragement is working.”
School Maths Link Governor, Andy Jackson said: “we’ve received very positive feedback from parents with reports of children frequently practicing their times tables at home, so it has been a great aid to learning.”
